SaaS
SaaS, also known as Software-as-a-Service, refers to web-based software applications that are provided to the user as a service rather than a product. In a SaaS solution, the software runs in the clouds, rather than on your computer. Users are free to access the programs from a number of locations via a web browser, which eliminates the need to install and maintain the software locally.
There’s no downloading and installing the software application for you to get started. The software is available over the web where you can select the web browser that you are using to view it. There are no updates of the software required on the user side, for SaaS its automatically being kept up to date.
SaaS applications are built on top of servers that provide computing power for a fee. The value proposition of SaaS is that the customer or client has to pay only for what they use, not the entire cost of the hardware that does the work.
